Week Ten - Polish the show

Image
Week Ten We found some inaccurate values sent by the touch sensor last week, so we started to make the hypothesis and fix the body suit. At first, we thought this problem happened because the tapes were stick with each other, or there were some tapes connected with the other region. For example, a piece of tape belongs to the thigh, but it also connects with the bottom part. So, Kaenan and Vivian went through every piece of tape and made them clearer. However, this still would do too much to the result, so we tried the second method, which is to isolate the end of the wire with the bodysuit to decrease the direct contact with the body. To do this we added another layer of tape under the end of the wire, I also tried to wear the motion capture suit on to isolate the contact with the wire. This works pretty well. On the tech side, we also tried to increase or decrease the sensitive threshold for each change on the suit. All these tries worked pretty well! Polishing the suit was actually

Week Nine - The Acceleration

Week Nine We had a small group meeting on Friday to work on the body suit to finish the chest, tummy, and back parts. I had to keep the same pose for Kaenan and Preeti to work simultaneously.  However, we had to meet on Sunday again to work on the bottom and leg parts. Kaenan worked on my right leg and Vivian helped work on another side which saved a lot of time. When we got to the bottom part, I had to keep bending over for Kaenan to put tape on which is the hardest for the whole time. We were in a rush to finish to suit because we were going to have a dress rehearsal on Monday that only opened for our friends. So Kaenan spent sacrificed her spare time to sew all the wires in, and Vivian soldered the wires on the sensor.  Before this Rehearsal, everyone was assigned a role in this show. Kaenan is the puppet's "safety guard" to stop any inappropriate touch naturally (don't break the show) if I can't handle it. Nick is the Ring Master to control the process of the

Week 8-The Milestone

Week 8 The whole team met in the mo-cap lab on Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm to combine every chunk of our project together. We had the first visual stage created, and the audio was ready, but it needed a more obvious transition. We also worked on taping the conductive tape on the arms, putting in the wires, and getting them tested. I worked closely with the costume. We were using the conductive thread at the beginning. It was sowed in, but it got confused as whether my skin touched the thread from the inside or people touched it from the outside of the suit. So we decided to use the wire instead of the thread.  After the arms were done, I wore the suit and tested the connection with Vivian with everything. The Kinect tracking worked better on the digital puppet compared to the initial tracking we had in Unity, which is good news. As a puppet that is being tracked, my feeling is that I need to tie up my hair and show my ears, otherwise the Kinect tracking will get confused on the left and r
